What is Realms?
‘Realms’ is a YA dark fantasy series about a teenager with so much rage at the world she lives in she starts having hallucinations of the magical realm she used to read about in an outlawed fairytale. Her ‘madness’ is discovered by the militaristic town elders and the underground resistance alike.
Each want her for very different reasons. One to bolster the evil that’s taken over the realms and the other to fight against it.
Synopsis:
For 70 years a mysterious ash has fallen from the sky over Huntington and dark robed men named the Elders have taken over the town providing security through their strict rules and league of militant Ash guards. Anything the Elders deem ‘dangerous’ is outlawed and ritualistically burned. Art, music, philosophy and most certainly books are all forbidden. Those who do not comply are considered a danger to society and locked away in the madhouse. Cornelia’s grandmother secretly kept a copy Cornelia’s favorite book, FirstWorld, once believed to be the sister realm to Earth. After her Grandma is captured by ash guards, Cornelia vows to never believe in FirstWorld again but as she grows older she starts having hallucinations of the book that become more and more real. Once her secret madness is exposed, Cornelia, with the help of her two best friends must find the real FirstWorld or risk being thrown in the madhouse themselves.

About the Creator
Hi! I’m Emma Bell and I’ve been a working actress for the better part of 20 years. I have always had a deep love of dark fantasy stories and decided to write one myself.
I didn’t want to wait around for traditional publishing, but instead have used my expertise in film production to turn it into a cinematic auditory experience reminiscent of the old radioplays.
‘Realms: The Girl Who Would Be Mad’ is a YA dark fantasy and the first book of a series.
What is a radioplay?
A radioplay was a fully produced theatrical audio show that would play through the radio. Families would gather, usually once a week, around their radio to listen to the piece.
Obviously we don’t really gather around a radio these days, but I wanted to create something the whole family could look forward to. 'Realms’ the radioplay is complete with narration, Hollywood actors playing the characters, foley design, a full sound design and original music.
